I have always dreamed of being a writer… no, change that I’ve always longed to have some reason to take a lap top, tablet, notepad (or something along those lines) into a coffee shop and sit there for hours on end frantically scribbling away, ideas flowing from my brain down to my finger tips about something I’m passionate about.
I would look at those people in said coffee shops enviously wishing I had a reason and wouldn’t look fraudulent. Well if there’s something that this whole Vintage journey has taught me is that you shouldn’t care what others might think and feel about you, you should just do what makes you happy! So here I am, sat in Cafe Nero tapping away on my awesome retro style keyboard, writing about what is important to me. I must admit it has made me deliriously happy.
However it is not always like this, I try and write when I can so sometimes the places are not ideal, such as the wonderful netball club my girls attend. It’s far preferable to Hockey training which takes place outside over the coldest months of the year (this is why I have an ingrained hatred of sport) but its in a large sports hall with minimal heating and wooden benches to sit on. Now ladies about to give birth forget all this epidural malarkey. All you need is one of these good old fashioned wooden benches. I am not kidding, spend any more than 45 minutes on one of those babies and you will be numb from knee to neck. There have been many an occasion when I’ve been happily sitting down, minding my own business, watching the girls run around like headless chickens, when its time to get up and BAM two dead legs and I’m moving with the grace of Ann Widdicombe on Strictly. You’d think I’d learn and move around a bit to keep the blood flowing but no, happens every time.
Anyway it’s all worth it in the grand scheme of things because I am one of the lucky ones who gets to do what I love. I hope you can all think of that little thing that makes you happy and do it today. The world would be a much better place if we put happiness first.
TTFN lovelies xx
